Halloween Treat Bags....

Here is a little Halloween treat bag made with justjohanna images.

I like making these bags because they are so easy and can be made for any holiday. The "bag" is actually a kind of folder that goes around the bag of treats. I've done them with valentine candies, packets of fruit snacks, any small candy really. Last year I had my Brownie Troop make them with hot chocolate packets to donate to a convent retirement home.

They can be made with or without the hole to see the treats inside. I thought I'd give you some brief instructions in case you want to try it.

You will need a piece of cardstock cut 11 inches high, and 3 3/4 inches wide.

You will also need stamps and coloring implements to decorate the bag as desired. If you want a window, you'll need a craft knife or shape cutter.

To close the bag, you'll need about a 6 inch length of ribbon and a hole punch.

Finally, you'll need your contents - any small bag will work. If you want to bag loose candy, the Wilton Clear Mini Treat bags are the perfect size. Just fill the bag, fold over at the top and staple closed.

Score the long sheet of cardstock (parallel to the short side) at 1 inch, 51/2 inches, and 6 1/2 inches. Fold all of the scores up, so you create a stand up triangle with a 1 inch flap over the top.

Decorate the front (shorter side that fits under the flap) as desired, cutting a window if desired.

Place a small piece of double stick tape on the back inside wall and stick down the candy bag.

Fold up the triangle with the flap over the top of the front. Punch two holes through all 3 of the cardstock layers. Feed ribbon through the holes to keep the flap closed.

(Note - if you are doing hot chocolate packets - do not punch through the packets, lesson learned at the Brownie Scout meeting - a bit of a mess there....).

And that's it. Thanks for stopping by! If you make a treat bag, please let me know - I would love to see it!
