Pattern Paper Emboss Resist

I thought I'd share a quick and easy technique today. I call it patterned paper emboss resist, but I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of it. And the other inventor may have even come up with a better name But anyway here it is.

You need:

  • A bold or solid image stamp
  • A piece of patterned paper - the smaller your image, the finer the design on the paper should be.
  • A dye ink pad that coordinates with the paper.
  • Versamark ink and clear embossing powder.

Stamp your image on the patterned paper with the Versamark ink and emboss with clear embossing powder. I always use an antistatic bag before I stamp with the Versamark. It really makes a huge difference in the quality of the embossing.

Then take your dye ink pad and rub it over the patterned paper, completely covering it with the ink. Buff your embossed areas with a paper towel to remove the excess ink. That's it - done. Easy right?

Here are my two samples.

The first card uses the Nature and Floral stamp set and the Expressions stamp set. The second card the Little Critters stamp set (I love the patterns on all the bugs! too cute!)

For both cards, I used the papers from the Warm Elegant Impressions paper craft kit.

And can you see my new toy!! My Fiskars border punch Threading Water. I LOVE it! It punches a little edge of eyelet lace. I don't know how many times I tried to cut straight scallops with my cloud scissors, then perfectly center a hole in each bump with my hole punch - what a pain. But this punches both at the same time - perfectly even.

I made the sentiment tab on the second card by using the border punch on both sides of the paper and slicing off one set of "bumps" with my craft knife. The grid on the punch base makes it easy to line up bumps evenly. I have more projects to share using this punch!

Hope everyone is having a great Monday. Thanks so much for stopping by!

NOW I see this when I JUST got three fiskars border punches in the mail. AND, I like this one much better than any I already bought. Oh, well, next payday will be time for another order, lol.

Seriously, the cards are wonderful!
