Scrapping???

I'm not much of a scrapbooker. I'd like to be, but I just can't seem to organize myself. I think scrapping is much harder than cardmaking - because the photos and journaling add a whole other layer of decision making. And the space is so much bigger! I just get intimidated and go make cards instead (LOL).

But - I always make my parents a calendar for Christmas that has a scrapped page of the kids for each month. Believe it or not - Christmas is not that far away (horrors...). So I need to get in the scrapping mood somehow.

Since I'm talking scrapping, here is a "layout" I did of one of the twins (notice the complete lack of journaling....). Sorry the picture has so much glare (but she still is cute huh?). All supplies are from The Angel Company.

Yes – Even More Splitcoast Challenges

My DH took the girls camping on Friday night so I have quite a few challenge cards to share (almost done – promise!

This first one is for Sweet Miss Daisy's challenge to make a card that has something to do with a pet. Yes – it is a cow, not your usual pet. But I did know someone who had pet cows. They had a web cam set up (called the "Cow Cam") so you could watch them doing their cow-ish things (not terribly exciting). I was never quite sure about their commitment to keep them only as pets though. They named them "Hamburger" and Cheeseburger".

Anyway, I combined this challenge with Genie134's sketch challenge. The stamps are all by The Angel Company (TAC). The paper is Daisy D's.

Here is another card using TAC stamps and Daisy D's paper. This was for Jenn Balcer's challenge to make a bright colored happy card. I guess this is as happy as a chicken gets.

I must have been is a yellow and red mood.

This last set of cards is for Jami's challenge to create a simple card and then another coordinating card that "takes it up a notch".



The stamps here are also TAC and the paper is some Basic Grey Oh Baby Boy that I have been hording.

Technique Thursday submission

Kim Franz started a blog called Technique Thursday.

Logically enough, Kim publishes a technique to try each Thursday. Well this past Thursday the technique was "masking".

I love masking! My favorite way to stamp is to take smaller images and put them together to make pictures. So I just had to participate in this one!.

Here are my two attempts. The first is a "bird bath party" made with all justjohanna stamps.





The second is one of my favorite stamp sets from The Angel Company. I love all the different pieces that you can put together. And I really am a sucker for fall!

My tips for masking:
I love Eclipse paper. Its like thin post it paper with sticky over the entire back. It works great and I can save my masks to use over and over. I just keep them in the case with the stamps.

My other tip - sometimes I mask the stamp instead of the paper! If I only want part of an image or sentiment, I put painters tape over the part I don't want, ink the entire thing and then rip the painters tape off before I stamp. This is easier for me than trying to ink around images I don't want, especially if they are close together.

Thank You Notes...

I created this collection of blank thank you note cards to donate to the tailgate sale at my church. We are trying to raise enough money to replace the ancient folding chairs in Fellowship Hall. The ones we have, well... they've been known to swallow small children.

I've come up with 7 sets of four cards - thank you, birthday, and mixed packs. Hopefully they will sell and help the cause a little anyway.

For these cards, all the stamps are from The Angel Company and the paper is various scraps I had on hand - mostly My Minds Eye.

Time for gardening....

I've been a avid gardener for about 15 years now.... I have a series of ridiculously large garden beds. Most are a mixture of trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs and a few annuals. I also have a annual flower/vegetable garden that is about 25 by 50 feet (see - I told you, ridiculous). Maybe I'll post some pictures so you can see the level of ridiculous I'm really talking about here.

Anyway, I've always kept my extra seeds in a ratty old shoe box. So I decided to upgrade. Here is my seed box. The stamps are all The Angel Company. The paper is from the Basic Grey Blush collection - my new favorite.

By the way - I have an exciting announcement to make - just need to get a couple more ducks in a row....

Please tell me I'm not the only one...

I'm always piddling around with different stamps, paper, techniques. I actually do make quite a few cards....although my family would never know it based on how many birthday cards actually make it to their doorsteps - let alone make it there on time.

I'm always "in the dog house" because cards are late. Then I don't have a belated card - so its even more late because I have to make one. So now I've decided to make a stash of belated birthday cards. I'm actually planning in advance to be late - a little pathetic huh??

The images are all from the Angel Company and the sentiment is from Eureka. The rest of the saying is "and your birthday went, here's the card I should have sent". With this card, I was playing with watercoloring with reinkers. I got inspired from a tutorial on Ellen Hutson's blog. She does beautiful work - well worth a look.
